Bass RICHARD JOHNSON has sung over 70 leading operatic bass roles, as well as a greater number of oratorios, masses, cantatas and orchestra works. Performance venues include Opera Company of Philadelphia, New Orleans Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, Cincinnati Opera, Virginia Opera, and Opera Orchestra of New York.
His operatic repertoire includes Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Truelove (The Rake's Progress), Raimondo (Lucia Di Lammermoor),
Leporello (Don Giovanni) and the title role in Verdi's Falstaff. Included in his oratorio repertoire are Messiah, The Creation, St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion and Requiem (Mozart and Verdi).
Mr. Johnson holds a DMA from the University of Iowa in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, and has over 30 years of teaching experience, having taught at Westminster Choir College, Cornell College and the University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire, where he was head of voice and opera for nine years.
He currently maintains a private voice studio in Bryn Mawr.
